4 tips to get the best out of your pharmacy experience!
✅ Stay with one pharmacy
Staying with one pharmacy is the best way for you and your pharmacist to keep track of your current medications. This way, you can all work together to make sure all medications you are taking are safe and effective and do not have any interactions or allergies with any new prescriptions.
✅ Take all medications as prescribed
Most medicines have to be taken exactly as directed by your doctor and/or pharmacist for them to have the proper effect. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before stopping your medications suddenly and always let them know if you notice any side effects. You should also let them know if you find it hard to remember to take your medications and they can give you helpful advice on how to stick to your medication plan.
✅ Don't leave refills to the last minute
Double check on your prescription bottle if you have any refills and call your pharmacy a week or two before you are going to run out of your medication. If you run out of refills, in some cases, your pharmacist can refill your prescriptions but, in most cases, your doctor will need to be contacted and this can delay medical treatment.
✅ Don't be afraid to ask questions
To get the best experience from your pharmacy, be sure that you understand all the information on how to take your medication properly. If you don't know the name of the medication, what it is being used to treat, how often you should take it, and the potential side effects, don't be afraid to ask for a refresher! Pharmacists are truly medication experts and are more than happy to be a reliable and knowledgeable resource for you.
